The Reverend William Lincoln Brown

Pastoral Years - February 1926 to January 1972

  • The Reverend William Lincoln Brown was called to pastor Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church with an understanding that the church merge with the congregation that he was currently pastoring. It was agreed. ? In the early 1930's a building was purchased in Glen Garden to be moved to the Crawford Street location.
  • In 1942, the Congregation bought bricks and looked forward to the church's expansion. The expansion included a Choir room with the choir no longer having to march in from the outside. The Pastor's Study moved inside from under the shade trees behind the church. Indoor plumbing was also an added feature.
  • In 1964, Reverend W.L. Brown brought to the Congregation the plan to purchase the present Church building at 2712 South Freeway and Morningside Drive. The Congregation agreed unanimously to purchase this building.
  • In September 1964, Reverend Brown led the move from Crawford Street to the corner of Morningside Drive and I-35W.
  • In December 1965, Reverend Brown shared the vision of a Prayer Room and in January 1966, the Prayer Room was dedicated and is named in his honor.
  • Many souls were saved, the membership increased and 18 men acknowledged their call to preach and were licensed under Pastor W.L. Brown.

Reverend William Lincoln Brown faithfully served the members of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church from February 1, 1926 until his death, January 27, 1972.

The Reverend Doctor Julius Lee Jackson, Sr., Ph.D.

Pastoral Years - March 1972 to February 1999

  • In March, 1972, the Reverend Julius Lee Jackson, Sr., was called to the leadership and pastorate of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church.
  • Oversaw the laying of the church's cornerstone
  • The church mortgage was retired and note burned
  • Instituted M.A.P. (Macedonia Aid Program)
  • Established a bible institute for laymen and ministers
  • Remodeled the sanctuary & became a strong force in the development of positive attitudes toward future expansion by emphasizing that ministry happens not only inside the church, but outside the church as well.
  • Updated office equipment and established office hours
  • Instilled a renewed since of worship and service
  • Strong emphasis on prayer, teaching and evangelism
  • Increased Macedonia's posture as a leading voice in the community by reaching out to civic officials, schools, churches, pastors, and political leaders to unite the church, school and community.
  • Many souls were saved, the membership increased and 17 men acknowledged their call to preach and were licensed under Pastor Julius L. Jackson, Sr.
  • Reverend Julius Lee Jackson, Sr., faithfully served the pastorate of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church from March 1, 1972 until his death, February 15, 1999.

The Reverend Julius Lee Jackson, Jr.

Pastoral Years - October 1999 - Present

  • In October, 1999, The Reverend Julius Lee Jackson, Jr., was called to serve the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church as its third pastor, succeeding his father (both biological and spiritual).
  • Re-structured the trustee staff-finance committee. The fiduciary responsibilities with oversight of all church properties were entrusted into their hands.
  • Several upgrades and improvements were made in the initial years which entailed cleaning, painting and replacing floor coverings. The ceiling in the sanctuary was redone, a new baptistery installed and marble tiles added to the narthex wall. Computers and church van purchased; office machines upgraded and administrative procedures instituted. Additional Sunday school classes were started, new ministries formed, the youth department was revived and the music ministry expanded.
  • In 2001, Pastor Jackson presented to the church the vision of expanding our facilities.
  • In 2002, ground was broken and the construction of a 7000 square foot addition began which included a grand foyer, new restrooms, parlor, 8 class rooms, a new church office and an elevator. Also purchased were new pews, Lord's Supper table, and a Glass pulpit. The sound system was completely upgraded with the ability to record all services on cassette tape, DVD and compact disc. A new steeple was added and a carillon system was installed. The outside sign was refurbished and landscape was complete. The building was re-faced with new brick and outside lights were added to enhance our appearance and security. A new roof installed and the heating and air units were totally upgraded.
  • In 2004, the church embarked upon The Purpose Driven Church study. Following this study, ministries were restructured to embrace the principals of Worship, Fellowship, Discipleship, Ministry and Evangelism bathed in prayer.

Macedonia's history is long having faced and emerged victorious through dangers seen and unseen. Ever hastening forward, Macedonia survives flourishes and marches on as "A People of Faith and a Ministry of Excellence!"
