Ministry of Hospitality
HOSPITALITY MINISTRY STATEMENT
Worship – We have to remember that God is in control during the worship service at all times. We worship Him because He is good and faithful and it gives us an opportunity to acknowledge His goodness and blessings. As we listen to the preach word expounded from the bible it gives us an opportunity to change our lives, hearts and mind in a Christ like way. Without worship it is impossible to be faithful and committed in our service. Worship strengthens us to serve in a godly manner, to serve and minister with love and a smile even during difficult times. Our devotional life around prayer, bible study and Sunday school enable us to grow in knowledge and understanding of God’s will for our life. These times will strengthen us to serve in a godly manner. (Psalm 100 encourages us to make a joyful noise to the Lord, serve Him with gladness, and be thankful to Him, for the Lord is good, His mercy is everlasting and His truth endures to all generations).
Fellowship – Those who are a part of the hospitality ministry and other ministries must strive to develop a sense of fellowship where genuine love, care, concern and nurture is provided for every member. We should strive to assist those who experience sickness, death or other hardships. We should develop a system to contact members who miss meetings and other services by cards, telephone calls or visits, but, never use fellowship service as a social outlet but a part of outreach service only.
Discipleship – As a follower of Jesus Christ, every usher, nurse or greeter has the responsibility to strive daily to be more Christ like. Our life style should include prayer, bible study, worship and Sunday school. This should help us in our task of ushering so that our entire persona will show our love for God so that others can share that love. Just as we ask others to follow us down the isle with confidence, our spiritual growth should be fearless in asking others to follow us as we follow Christ. (1 Cor 11:1 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ).
Ministry – We should reach out to the needs of others, which include those outside the walls of the church. We shall strive to do this in a spiritual and physical way. This ministry should be genuine love and concern for others regardless of who they are. Everything we do should be done to glorify God and not to miss the opportunity to tell those we serve about the love of Jesus Christ. Our ministry also includes a warm smile, friendly handshake or nod. We have so many opportunities to minister not just on Sundays, but at anytime there is a church service, such as funerals, anniversaries, visiting churches, revivals and in our everyday life. Those spiritual gifts God has blessed each individual with should be an effective tool to bring others to Christ. (1 Cor 12:7 But the manifestation of the spirit is given to each one for the profit of all).
Evangelism – Every time an usher, nurse or greeter takes his or her post, we are in a position to witness for Christ. As we experience the love of Jesus in our life, we demonstrate that love to others with a warm smile, a kind word or a nod of encouragement. Many times we are the first person a visitor encounter. Our greeting and service can be a determining fact which leads a person to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. All that we do should bring glory to the house of the Lord.
